California’s gold coast of Ventura County is lucky to have singer-songwriter, performing, recording artist Rachel Sedacca call it home. Her country/blues songs and folksy ballads are full of colorful characters and stories from her time on the road.
Rachel’s diverse repertoire includes soulful, bluesy Americana originals, and notes her biggest influences from Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, and years of Grateful Dead shows steeping her in an eclectic musical tea, appreciation for the fusing of genres and seasonings of the road often injected in the lyrics of her songs.
Rachel’s debut release, “Lucky Like Me” has earned her 1st place in American Songwriter magazines bi-monthly lyric contest for her grassy take on the California gold rush with “Days of ‘49”. A well established internet presence led to a two-week tour of Japan in 2003. With local Japanese musicians, Rachel performed for 2,500 at the annual charity walkathon in Nagoya and joined by Tom Corbett on mandolin & guitar, a headline slot the Country Jamboree in the mountains of Gifu.
Rachel currently tours in a 1971 GMC school bus, lovingly named Patience, a cozy home on the road for this lady vagabond. She’s full of amusing anecdotes about her travels and adventures engaging her audience with a strong stage presence. Rachel's 11 state, 7 week, 23 date "Young & Beautiful" tour in 2006 is the seed of the story behind the title track to her latest album “Patience Pays” she loves to share.
Rachel released her latest album “Patience Pays” in April 2008. She received a standing ovation with her all-star band at Live Oak Music Festival by KCBX radio in San Luis Obispo that summer and took to the road again in the fall for the “Patience Pays “tour through CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, and CO. Canceling a handful of dates due to a severe ankle fracture, Rachel heads west for a “Secondhand Southwest” tour in Nov, playing dates in AZ and NM.
